Talente-Check Salzburg looks back on ten very successful years in 2025 – and SCHUHFRIED congratulates it on this milestone! Since its opening in 2015, the Talent Check has established itself as a central point of contact for educational and career guidance in the province of Salzburg. This successful model helps young people to recognize their own strengths and confidently choose the right training path.
Today, both the Talent Check for pupils in grades 7 and 8 and the Career Check for high school graduates, which has been offered since 2020, are among the most important career guidance tools in Salzburg. At the heart of the offer is a well-founded potential analysis: standardized test procedures – including those from the Vienna Test System – give young people an objective overview of their cognitive abilities, interests and personality. This is followed by an individual consultation with specific educational and career recommendations.
WKS Director Manfred Pammer praises the successful project:
“The Talent Check is an exemplary institution – and one of the most important education policy initiatives of recent years. It helps young people and parents to make well-informed decisions and reduce drop-out rates at the same time. It is also hugely important as a preventative measure against skills shortages and unemployment.”
Evaluation shows sustainable effectiveness
An ongoing evaluation by the Austrian Institute for Vocational Education and Training Research (öibf) provides impressive results:
- Young people with a talent check make their training decisions earlier
- The probability of changing apprenticeship is almost halved
- Satisfaction with the chosen training is significantly higher
This data confirms it: The Talent Check strengthens young people in the long term – and makes career paths more stable.
