SCHUHFRIED company history

1947

Dr. Felix Schuhfried and Gertraut Schuhfried found the company under the name SCHUHFRIED Medizintechnik.

1959

SCHUHFRIED begins developing psychological tests and producing measurement devices.

1962

SCHUHFRIED acquires a production site near the University of Vienna and expands its cooperation with university institutes.

1975

The company moves to new headquarters in Mödling

1978

SCHUHFRIED becomes a GmbH, a European limited liability corporation.

1980

The company introduces a new state-of-the-art psychological assessment system for use in traffic psychology.

1986

SCHUHFRIED develops the Vienna Test System, the first digital psychological testing system in the world. It combines tests, person management and scoring in a single interface.

1986

The VTS is officially recognized and used by public authorities in Germany and Austria.

1986

Globally established psychological test procedures are licensed for the first time.

1986

Public authorities in South Africa officially recognize and use the VTS.

1994

SCHUHFRIED builds up an international network of distributors.

1995

The company develops its computer-aided biofeedback system.

1998

Public authorities in Portugal and Turkey officially recognize and begin using the VTS.

2001

The company is awarded the right to carry the Austrian state crest.

2001

SCHUHFRIED gains certification according to ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and EN 46001 and EN 46002.

2005

Biofeedback 2000x-pert is launched.

2005

On October 27, 2005, the President of Austria awards Dr. Gernot Schuhfried the title Kommerzialrat.

2006

The company introduces CogniPlus, its training battery for cognitive functioning.

2008

Leadership of the company passes into the third generation, with Gerald Schuhfried taking over from his parents Dr. Gernot Schuhfried and Kläre Schuhfried to head the firm.

2012

The company launches the new Vienna Test System and its four special versions HR, NEURO, TRAFFIC and SPORT.

2013

SCHUHFRIED becomes a member of the ETPG (European Test Publishers Group) and the ITC (International Test Commission).

2014

The Austrian Chamber of Commerce awards the company its Hidden Champion title, bestowed on market segment leaders.

2016

Biofeedback Xpert is launched.

2022

Together with over 5,600 of its clients, SCHUHFRIED celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding.

2023

The Vienna Test System is available in over 30 languages and used in more than 68 countries. Each year, it is used to conduct more than 13 million test sessions.
