Partnership with the FK Austria Wien Academy

SCHUHFRIED has been partnering with the FK Austria Wien Academy since 2024. The youth division of this long-established club includes youth teams for the U6 through U14 age groups, as well as academy teams for the U15 through U18 age groups. An important component of the academy’s structure is the integration of athletic development and academic education—including through the Wiener Ballsportgymnasium, a public federal upper-secondary school for competitive athletes.

As part of this collaboration, young soccer players in the U15, U16, and U18 age groups, as well as players on the Young Violets’ second team in the 2nd League, will be tested using the Vienna Test System. The focus is not on individual test results, but rather on a nuanced assessment of cognitive resources, personality traits, and potential correlations with athletic demands.

Among other things, the study examines how cognitive abilities may be related to factors such as game intelligence, attention, reaction time, or position-specific requirements. The findings are intended to help take a more holistic view of talent and support players in a resource-oriented manner—that is, to better identify their individual strengths and take them into account in a targeted way as they develop as athletes.

The assessment includes selected tests from the SCHUHFRIED Selection, including the RT Reaction Time Test, the SPAN Adaptive Working Memory Test, the TACO Attention and Concentration Test, and the Big Five Test in the FCB5 forced-choice format.

FK Austria Wien’s U15 team was crowned champion of the ÖFB Youth League in June 2026. This marks the third consecutive championship title for the Austria Academy—following the U16 team in the 2023–24 season and the U18 team last year, the U15 team has now continued the successful streak.
