The test has been developed as a screening tool for rapid identification of deficits in self-confident and socially competent behavior. The resulting planning of therapy can thus be tailored to the individual. It is also suitable for use as a research tool in connection with various issues that arise in differential personality psychology.

Respondents state whether various statements apply to them. The statements relate to social interaction and experienced self-confidence. The previous answer can be corrected once.

Scoring
The following main variables are scored:
- The overall score provides a general assessment.
- Social competence: Measure of the respondent’s social skills and the extent to which he/she actively takes the initiative in social situations.
- Own opinions: Measure of the expression of the respondent’s own opinion or of suppression of these opinions in order not to hurt or criticize the interaction partner.
- Self-defense: Measure of self-defense against infringement of legitimate rights and matters that are taken for granted.
- Unselfconsciousness vs. fear: Measure of hyper-reflection, self-control and social anxiety about denigration and criticism.
- General self-confidence: Measure of self-assurance and self-confidence or self-consciousness and shyness
