Application

Assesses motor planning and execution processes during computer mouse use.
This test is particularly useful in clinical neuropsychology as a pre-test for tests that require familiarity with the use of the mouse. To ensure that testing is fair and valid, competence in using the computer mouse should not be assumed but should be verified with the Mouse Ability Test – especially when administering tests with a speed component.

Administration

Squares of decreasing size are shown on the screen. The respondent’s task is to click on them one by one as quickly as possible.

Test forms

One test form.

Scoring

The following main variables are scored:

  • Mouse control: Measure of working speed and accuracy.
  • Number of correct reactions: The prescribed targets have been met within a defined time limit.
  • Speed: In controlling the mouse cursor.
  • Accuracy: Indicates whether the mouse cursor was moved in the right direction and along straight lines between two points.
